This is the Genesis X Speedium Coupe idea, which is neither a preview of a future Genesis model nor a 'traditional' concept in any sense.
It's a 'freestyle' design exercise based on the Genesis X Concept, according to Genesis. A vehicle that goes deeper into Genesis' "design processes as we explore ideas for the next wave of electric vehicles." Those are the words of Genesis' chief creative officer, Luc Donckerwolke.
Not only is it a freestyle design rap, but it's also a hint that Genesis intends future electric vehicles to be enjoyable to drive. "The name symbolizes Genesis' idea that, in the age of electrification, the emotional importance of driving will remain strong."
The face of the _Speeeeedium_ is said to be a sign of the Korean automaker's move to an all-electric future. The 'brand signature' is visible here in the form of daytime running lights that combine low and high beams.
Those flanks have a Jensen Interceptor vibe to them, with their 'anti-wedge' design for optimal streamlining. Aerodynamic efficiency is, of course, critical for electric vehicles. Simply ask Merc EQXX.
Maybe it's just us, but are there hints, if not outright notes, of the old V12 Vantage in the back? Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. The entire thing is painted 'Inje Green' to match the hilly backdrop of the racecourse, which also serves as the inspiration for the name.
"We're allowing each design element room to breathe," Donckerwolke explains. "It's not about pitting design aspects against one another; it's about organizing them so that they complement and appreciate one another."
It may not be a car you'll be driving anytime soon, but it's wonderful to see a company creating concepts purely for fun, isn't it?
